AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin Police said Thursday a man is dead from self-inflicted gunshot wounds after a SWAT callout at an apartment complex on East Stassney Lane in south Austin. Police did not name the complex but the address they gave matches Austin City Lights which is between South Congress Ave and Interstate 35. Police said the situation began when 911 got a call around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday about a woman being assaulted by her boyfriend inside their apartment. The woman was able to get out by the time officers arrived, police said, but the boyfriend remained inside with a gun. That's when SWAT was called out, APD said. SWAT officers found the man's body inside the apartment at 2:45 a.m. Police said the man never made contact with officers. APD said the man was the only one inside the apartment other than some dogs when SWAT officers found his body.

It’s time to put 2023 — a great year for eating in the Twin Cities — to bed. Here are eight restaurants we are looking forward to opening in 2024.Woodbury Bebe ZitoThe Burger from Bebe Zito at The Market at Malcolm Yards. (Jess Fleming / Pioneer Press)The ice cream and burger spot’s first three locations — in Uptown, Malcolm Yards Market and Eat Street Crossing — are widely beloved, so I couldn’t be more excited for Gabriella Grant-Spangler and Ben Spangler to bring their operation to the east metro.Located next to The Gap in the Woodbury Lakes outdoor mall, this outpost will feature the usual wacky ice cream flavors (Vanilla MSG, anyone? But also, frosted animal cookie, PB and J and bruleed salted caramel flan) and bacon-in-the-grind burger. They’ve expanded over the years to include chicken tenders and sandwiches, fries, cheese curds and more. Sounds like just the thing to fortify us during shopping outings.Opening Jan. 19.Bebe Zito: 9000 Hudson Road #615, W...

Dear Readers: Periodically, I ask for “Updates” regarding questions which have been published in this space. I am naturally curious about how things might have turned out for people who have received my advice. This column is devoted to a Q&A that was originally published in 2021.You can read the original question, followed by my answer. The update follows that.Dear Amy: My boyfriend of almost three years is very childish. If I do something he does not like, he will try to get me back or even the score in some way.For instance, I do not want to do a particular act in the bedroom. It makes me super-uncomfortable. No matter how many times I explain this, he says it’s his favorite thing and if I don’t do it, then it’s a deal-breaker. So sometimes I suffer through it, but other times I flat-out refuse.Well, the other day, I refused. Now he won’t kiss me. He says that since I won’t do that for him, kissing is off the table until I do it.How is that fair?Ho...

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A father and son in Texas have been charged in the killings of an 18-year-old pregnant woman who disappeared before Christmas and her boyfriend, who authorities say were fatally shot in the head before their bodies were moved and discovered days later in a car. The arrests Wednesday night came more than a week after the bodies of Savanah Nicole Soto, 18, and Matthew Guerra, 22, were found in the parking lot of a San Antonio apartment complex, a crime scene that the city’s police chief originally described as “very, very perplexing.”San Antonio police Sgt. Washington Moscoso told reporters their deaths appeared to be the result of a drug deal but did not elaborate. Manchester United returns on-loan Reguilon to Tottenham

Published Sun, 09 Mar 2025 00:54:44 GMT

MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Manchester United ended its loan deal for Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon on Thursday. The Spanish left back moved to Old Trafford in August on a season-long loan. But United has exercised a break clause in the contract and Reguilon will return to Spurs. “With fewer games in the second half of the season and injured players returning, there will be less opportunity for Sergio to play,” United said. “It was decided it was in the best interests of all parties for Reguilon to return to Spurs.” The 27-year-old Reguilon was signed to cover injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia at the start of the season. He made 12 appearances in all competitions.Shaw has since returned and Malacia is close to recovery. United has been eliminated from the Champions League and the English League Cup. That means manager Erik ten Hag is unlikely to face fixture congestion in the second half of the season and extra pressures on his squad.___AP soccer: https://apnews.com...
