WATCH LIVE | Chicago's next police superintendent — an update from the search team CHICAGO — The city's new Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability (CCPSA) continues its search for Chicago's next police superintendent.The CCPSA is set to update the public on their search efforts and "share insights on the candidate review process," according to a press release. Who Might be Chicago’s ‘next’ Top Cop? The scheduled update follows a series of public hearings which the commission used to gather community feedback on what qualities they would like to see in Chicago's next top cop.Ultimately, the CCPSA will provide a list of three finalists to soon-to-be Mayor Brandon Johnson. The deadline for that list is July 14. Johnson will then have 30 days to either select one of the finalists or reject all of them which would force the commission to start the entire process over.WGN plans to livestream the update within this story beginning at approximately 9 a.m.

Jean Carroll in the civil trial that wrapped up Tuesday. “The partisan Judge & Jury on the just concluded Witch Hunt Trial should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for allowing such a travesty of Justice to take place,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. A jury found Trump sexually abused Carroll in the 1990s, and that he later defamed her when he denied her claims. LIVE: Man dies in overnight homicide in east Austin AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin Police said a man is dead after officers found his body off Manor Road in east Austin late Tuesday night. Police said the man's death is being investigated as a homicide. This is the 28th homicide of 2023 in the City of Austin. MAP: Where have Austin’s homicides occurred in 2023? According to APD, officers were called at 11:29 p.m. to a report of gunshots being fired at the intersection of Manor Road and Rogge Lane. APD said officers checked the area and additional calls and information came in, and officers went to the 6200 block of Breeze Way, where they found the man with "obvious trauma to the upper body." First aid was given to the man but he died at the scene, according to APD.At the time of the media briefing around 2 a.m. Wednesday, police were not sure if a suspect was in custody or detained. Police said homicide detectives are investigating.

Del Valle ISD approves 6% raise for all positions DEL VALLE, Texas (KXAN) -- Del Valle Independent School District teachers and staff are getting a raise. The Del Valle ISD Board of Trustees during a special board meeting on Monday approved the superintendent's recommendation of a 6% salary increase for all teachers, librarians, counselors, nurses, paraprofessionals, auxiliary staff and administration.The district’s starting teacher salary is now $58,000 per year, the minimum hourly rate for auxiliary staff is $16 per hour, and the minimum hourly rate for bus drivers is $22 per hour.The salary increases are part of a balanced budget proposal presented to the board by the superintendent and administration, according to a release from the district.“This is the second year in a row that we have increased teacher salaries by 6%. Man shot, injured during attempted robbery in St. Anthony A man was shot and wounded during an attempted robbery of his car keys in St. Anthony Tuesday night.He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to St. Anthony Police.Police were called about the shooting in the parking lot of Walgreens at 3700 Silver Lake Road at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to his leg.The man reported he’d just parked and was still in his vehicle when a male approached and demanded his keys. While he was trying to get them, the suspect opened the driver’s door and fired a single shot at the driver, according to police. That day, those who are registered to vote within a certain school district can go and vote on the budget for the 2023-2024 school year, as well as vote on those who are running for the school's Board of Education. Each budget vote affects taxpayers within the different districts depending on how much the school proposes to raise or lower taxes.
