Wild star Kirill Kaprizov starting to feel like himself again

Published Sun, 23 Feb 2025 10:22:47 GMT

Kirill Kaprizov didn’t feel like himself. He wasn’t shy about that.Asked how he felt like he played last week in his return to the Wild lineup, the star forward wasn’t exactly pleased with his performance.“It was a tough start,” he said. “I hope to be better.”The fact that Kaprizov played in any capacity was a win for the Wild. Some thought he might miss the rest of the regular season after suffering a lower-body injury in a March 8 game against Winnipeg. Not the case as Kaprizov came back sooner than expected. He played against the St. Louis Blues a week and a half ago, logging 20 minutes, 26 seconds. He followed that up by playing against the Jets a few days later, logging 22 minutes, 13 seconds against Jets.“I’m really glad I played,” he said. “It was really important for me to get the rust off.”That should help as the Wild prepare for their first-round playoff series against the Dallas Stars. Game 1 is in Dal...

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are back in the NBA postseason, and the league's all-time leading scorer couldn't be more ready.James and the Lakers missed last year's playoffs, and Phoenix bounced the then-defending champs in just six games in 2021. Kennard is also a fellow Ohio native who broke James' career scoring record in high school.“Obviously, I haven't thought about Memphis one minute," James said to laughter. The franchises haven't faced each other in the postseason until now...

Antony fires Man United up to 3rd with 2-0 win at Forest

Published Sun, 23 Feb 2025 10:22:47 GMT

NOTTINGHAM, England (AP) — Antony was at his lethal best as Manchester United beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the Premier League on Sunday, days after the Brazil international was described by manager Erik ten Hag as a player who can “kill opponents.”Antony scored one goal and made another at the City Ground as United moved up to third and took another step toward Champions League qualification. The $95 million signing from Ajax opened the scoring when turning the ball over the line after Anthony Martial’s shot was saved by Keylor Navas in the 32nd minute. And after Forest’s on-loan Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper pulled off a string of saves to prevent United extending the lead, Antony turned provider to set up Diogo Dalot in the 76th. The forward has been criticized since arriving at Old Trafford last summer for his lack of goals and inconsistent performances. But Ten Hag, who coached Antony at Ajax, has repeatedly defended him.In the absence of injured leading scorer Mar...
