Crews are battling a wildfire in the the San Bernardino National Forest near Lytle Creek that has burned at least 160 acres Wednesday afternoon.The Nob Fire was reported around 10:15 a.m. and officials said it had burned 8 acres, but had the potential to spread quickly. A man has been arrested in connection with an apparent kidnapping that was captured on camera in Commerce Tuesday afternoon.At 4:21 p.m., a woman was quickly walking down Couts Avenue while talking on a cell phone when a man pulled up, the LASD said in a news release.The man, who exited his silver 2016-17 Kia Rio with a handgun, pistol-whipped the woman and dragged her into the car's passenger seat before driving away, the LASD added.The man was taken into custody around 2 p.m. and was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping.The woman remains at large. She was described as having "dark brownish red hair" and was wearing a black dress and sandals, the release said. The driver who slammed into a mother and her child as they walked to school in L.A.’s Mid-Wilshire neighborhood Tuesday morning may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash, police said Wednesday. The crash happened just before 8 a.m. in the 6200 block of West Colgate Avenue, across the street from Hancock Park Elementary.Police had previously said the male driver of a white pickup truck was speeding when he struck a woman in her 30s and her 6-year-old daughter in an intersection, struck a light pole, and then crashed into an apartment building.The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her daughter was hospitalized in critical condition late Tuesday and is currently stable. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- One person has life-threatening injuries after they were shot in San Francisco on Wednesday afternoon, the San Francisco Police Department said. SFPD officers responded to the 100 block of Sadowa Street at about 2 p.m. for the shooting. A victim was located and transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.SFPD has not arrested a suspect in the shooting. YOSEMITE (KSEE/KGPE) – Yosemite Valley announced they will close starting Friday, April 28, at 10:00 p.m., due to a forecast of flooding. According to the park, this closure will last until Wednesday, May 3—possibly longer. Additional flooding and closures may occur later in May or June. Reservations for lodging and campgrounds in eastern Yosemite Valley will automatically be canceled and refunded, according to officials. Wilderness permits can be rescheduled to alternate trailheads as space allows. During this closure, Wawona, Mariposa Grove (via hike only), Crane Flat area, Hetch Hetchy, and western Yosemite Valley will be open. Officials say in Yosemite Valley, the closure will be at El Capitan crossover (the road that crosses the Merced River just east of El Capitan). There will be no visitor access (including pedestrian access) east of that road.
